Financial Assistance
The USDA has two financial assistance programs that could possibly help residents to hook up to the new sewer lines. The first one is the 504 program. This program is either a grant for persons who are age 62 and over and in the very low income range and who are not able to repay a 1% loan. The other part of this program is the 504 loan that is 1% for up to 20 year term. The applicant also needs to be in the very low income range. If an applicant does not qualify for the 504 program it may be possible to apply for the 502 repair loan. With this option there is no age restriction and the income can be in the Low range. This loan can go up to 33 years.
