Board of Commissioners

Meetings

The Board of Commissioners serve as the executive and legislative authority for the county. Their statutory duties include:

Appointments to boards, commissions, committees and unelected department heads
Auditing and authorization of all county claims
Cooperation with all county offices
Final approval county Building Regulations and Planning Commissions Regulations
Leasing or rental of county owned ground for purposes of mining, farming or gas and oil exploration
Management of all county property
Preparing the portion of the county budget the Commissioners exercise control over
Preserving cemeteries having in conjunction with Township Government
Provide for Emergency Ambulance Service
Providing county fair and 4-H Projects in partnership with Purdue University
Providing park and recreation facilities
Receiving bids and authorizing county contracts
Serve on the Adams County Drainage Board
Supervision of the construction and maintenance of county bridges
Supervision of the county road system
